"Man on Bed" oil on canvas, 1970's, gift to Dr. Sunil M. Kothari (pictured), 85.3 x 85.3 cms. email from Dr. Kothari, 8 July 2014: "Dear Brian, Bhupen gave painting to me long ago when I was staying at Ivorine building [1966 to 1977] in Mumbai. Then in 1980 I moved to Kolkata as a Professor of Dance at Rabindra Bharati University. The painting travelled with me from Mumbai to Delhi before I went to Kolkata. And I had deposited it with my friend D...as I had no place of mine to hang it. He promised to take utmost care, and he did and returned it to me when I got Asiad Village flat in 2004. Since then it is with me. The person lying in bed may be someone he liked, but am not sure. I do not recollect anything more." Bhupen wrote his name, the title and his then Baroda address on the reverse.
